Kiva:
Global Website

Website and illustration design for Kiva Global, an international nonprofit addressing the challenge of financial inclusion from all sides.

Kiva.org invited our design studio to create a new website with a fascinating prompt: the organization needed a separate, stand-alone website with information specific to corporate donors and major private donors — including high-net worth individuals, external decision-makers (including government actors), influencers across multiple industries (finance, tech, nonprofit), financial inclusion thought-leaders, and press / media.

Illustration & Lettering / Digital & Web

Along with designing and developing this website, our studio built a brand identity that helped publicly represent the larger Kiva story, building off a mission, vision, and set of strategies recently updated by the organizations — while being distinct enough from the main Kiva.org website to not be distracting for its consumer audience.

Design-wise, these requirements translated into a set of branding guidelines that included an illustration style with detailed drawing instructions, which allows Kiva to build any number of illustrations they might need in the future, without breaking the new brand style.

In addition to the visual design, the website included a number of bespoke solutions for Kiva, ranging from embeds of data visualization tools, to integrations with Google Docs, to playful easter eggs experiences thorough the website, such as the 404 page (screenshot below). To date, the website has been a massive success and it has helped amplify Kiva’s message to its target audience exponentially.
